  • This stage can take up to 2 business days to complete.

Acceptance decision and plan

  • Medical second opinion requests are reviewed by a paediatric specialist. If accepted, we provide a cost estimate for medical second opinion based on the plan, which may include medical record review conducted by various disciplines, interprofessional case conferences, radiology imaging reviews, and pathology analysis. A virtual appointment may be booked to review and discuss the MSO report by the SickKids specialist(s) with the patient and family, and/or responsible physician abroad.

Financial agreements

  • Full financial coverage is required before proceeding with medical second opinion assessment and documentation.
  • Payment may be arranged directly in full via cheque, bank transfer, or online by credit card. Alternatively, insurance companies, embassies, or governments may provide coverage for the total cost of proposed services through a Letter of Guarantee.
